Bottega Veneta – MFW SS13
OK so Bottega Veneta isn’t really my style, but a few things really caught my eye…
My outsider view on the runway:
The 60’s theme was somewhat clear to see but in a less ‘lets make a statement’ way and in a more ‘let’s take it back to the ‘Great Gastsby’ era. As much as the era rocked the AW12 runway it seem’s a few designers aren’t letting go of such great fashion. Bottega have taken parts of the collection and mixed it up with 60’s flowers for a new modern retro collection.
The outfits look chic and well put together and very loosely based on the chosen decades. Waistlines were nipped with chic embellishment details, creating a slimline silhouette. No hourglass figures allowed! The colours used were all mid-toned and seemed more transitional rather than a spring/summer collection.
No spring pastels or high summer colours, just mid-orange and greys. The ‘spring’ influence came from the butterfly prints and the soft blooming flower coats and dresses. For summer sparkle, there were hints of sequins.
As much as the collection is not my style, I saw lots of things that I’d like incorporated in a different way. A very well rounded and solid collection.
