Battle of the brands: The Foundation Brush

So apparently The Body Shop have the best budget friendly make up brushes, so I decided to pitch them off against Avon’s new two-tone offering.

The Body Shop foundation brush – £12
This was my first ever foundation brush, due to mass online reviews of their brush range, however as much as it started out soft and smooth I don’t think the bristles spread out evenly after washing.

It becomes more rigid and bits sort of clump together so it creates streaks on each application.  You really have to soften before each use.

  • The Body Shop foundation brush
    Deep pressure

I find the more I use it the more elbow grease I need to blend in liquid foundations!  Far too much time.

On the plus side it’s great at covering areas quickly, but I prefer the softer bristle brush which feels fluffy on the skin and doesn’t product overload!

3/5 – Bulky, rigid bristles and too angular

Avon foundation brush – £8.50
This is like silk.  it’s fluffy, bouncy and super smooth! I find I get smoother coverage with this as the bristles spread like a fan with very little pressure. I prefer the smaller surface size as it could easily work for BB and CC creams.

Avon foundation brushIt does swallow up more product than the Body Shop one though as it’s so soft and light, but it doesn’t leak excess foundation when blending in, which is definitely a plus!

5/5 – Smooth, lightweight and precise

*AVON* wins the foundation brush battle.
