My obsession with YSL Beauty!
When it comes to premium beauty, I think there’s no better luxe brand than YSL Beauty!
I am positively OBSESSED with YSL’s make-up products. To me they are the most French beauty brand EVER! When I think of luxe French brands, they are the first that comes to mind. It’s part gold packaging/part good quality products.
To me, they beat the likes of Chanel & Dior who are plain as hell when it comes to shades, as YSL not only experiment with intense bold colours, but they’re also pretty famously known for the first French beauty brand to embrace Women of Colour. So YSL is here to stay with me!
Take a look at my YSL buys of late!
YSL Touche Éclat Rose Gold Highlighter – £25
I managed to get this for just £16.33 online at boots in some sort of flash sale as I was just browsing and always wanted to try it since it’s an exclusive at Boots, but there was also an offer of 1000 points of x2 YSL buys with one from Touche Éclat so I plumped for the blue mascara I’ve always wanted! It’s MEGA colourful and really stands out, even in dull weather.
As you can see from the pics it’s the same as the #1 Touche Éclat*, just with a light shimmer. Seriously it’s more or less the same. I was hoping for a more intense shimmer, but maybe it shows up better in the summer!
Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara – £25
Not content with just one mascara, I has to buy another and went for the purple one as I love coloured mascara. Boots had a flash sale on perfume and I managed to get Chance CHANCE for just £60 but needed to make an order for £75 to get an even better discount overall so I got another mascara, which meant I got the Chanel perfume for just £44 after all discounts!
The mascara worked out to just £20 and the colour is not as intense as I thought, as it looks plum on me. Maybe my lashes are too dark. But this may work better in the summer. Only time will tell!
Yves Saint Laurent Dessin Du Regard Waterproof Eye Pencil – £20
Shock horror, again I was just browsing online when I stumbled across this on Harvey Nichols for just £10 and in that amazing violet! I’ve only ever used Urban Decay liners but as the colour matches the mascara I just HAD to buy it. Apparently #10 was for autumn and limited edition so it’s just left over stock now.
I find it a lot smoother than UD and less ‘obvious’. Yes the colour is incense but whereas UD has that ‘instant shock effect’ from the jump, YSL’s ones are more subtle and easier to blend, while still giving a full effect. I really need to find more of these liners!
PROS of YSL:
- Slips off with eye make-up remover with ease, even the waterproof liner! No elbow grease needed like the cheaper ones. Nor does it smudge or have fallout on any of the products!
- Mascara is creamy and feather weighted so doesn’t even feel like you’ve applied anything. You don’t have to work it into your lashes like cheaper ones.
CONS of YSL:
The mascaras are lightly fragranced, so those with sensitive eyes may have a problem, I could tell for about 10 minutes then my eyes were fine.
