Rewind Expo Milano 2015: The best of the rest
Here’s the best of the rest from outside of the pavilions in and around EXPO Milano 2015.
I sampled Belgian fries, visited the Nutella deli bar, visited more than 20 counties around the world courtesy of my my EXPO passport, and got the closest I’ll ever get to seeing the Virgin Mary.
EXPO Milano 2015 was a massive cultural experience and in looking back at my pictures, I’m still overwhelmed at how much I saw and experienced.
Here’s a closer look at some of the highlights outside of the pavilions.
The Nutella bar
This place was phenomenal, not just because of the ‘everything nutella’, but it was by far the coolest place to chill since the weather was so smoking! They literally had every kind of Nutella ice cream, milkshake, pastry, doughnuts, e.t.c, going. Yu could literally gorge all day on Nutella.
This was one of my first pitstops as I got there around lunchtime and as the fries were only €2.50 who could say no? Unfortunately I missed out on the beer as they’d run out, and I was so mad as they had special souvenir glasses you could keep! When I went back in October the price had gone up to €5 for the chips. RIP-OFF!!!!
Or perhaps not. the #FoodTruckNation they were peddling was seriously bad food. The burger was so poor and the chips were just the standard Lays (Walkers to us) all for €11. You’d think the USA would put more effort in to showcase how ‘amazing’ they are, but they simply played to the ‘american diner’ theme with beyond poor produce. I was so disappointed.
However they did ‘make it rain’ at the entrance…
The EXPO passport
For just €5 you could pick up a special novely souvenir passport so you could get the official stamp of each country you visited. I didn’t manage more than say 20, as there’s only so much you can fit in a day and since each one is ever so detailed I ended up rushing around the end! I’m pretty gutted I missed out on China (who had the longest queue for miles) as I can image inside their pavilion was beyond spectacular.
The Virgin Mary
She sits atop the Duomo cathedral in milan and quite frankly you’ll never ever get up there to see her and take pictures. so this replica at the start of the EXPO fair was a real highlight especially in the beaming sunshine.
